Winchester 52 Scope?
Hi Folks!
I'm trying to identify -- alas, from a photo only -- the scope found on this Model 52. Any ideas? Thanks! Dave |

It's a Lyman Super-Targetspot I do believe. The book I'm looking at has 6 listed from 10x to 30x. Parallax-adjustable from 50' on out. List price was $125 or $134 with a case in 1967. (From the Shooter's Bible.)
I see they're $500+ now in 85% condition. www.alexweb.net/unertl/lyman_stp.htm John Edited to add: The same book shows a Winchester 52-D with a list price of $154.95. |

That's what I suspected, but there's no identification on the scope itself. Is that normal?
Many thanks! Dave |

Not sure it's the newer "Lyman Super Target Spot", may be the earlier "Target Spot" ....you're lucky to still have the rubber eye piece. Looks like it's missing the recoil spring. Got a Super Target Spot a few years ago for a 52 Speedlock, condition was about 98% with box, gave $650.

Many thanks to everyone! No matter how long I've been in the shooting sports, I'm always impressed by how helpful shooters are to each other. Thanks again!

I wish you'd stop posting pics of your scope. It could end up costing me.
Here's a Target Spot ad with 2 pics: www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976732086.htm |

Johnbt, I'm not an expert on these, but something doesn't look right on that photo you got from GunsAmerica. That scope is listed as a Target Spot but has the flared bell just as the Lyman "Super" ad and my scope have. (Wondering if that one is mis-labeled?) The other difference is the two locking rings for the adjustable eyepiece. The original photo posted by dbuffington does not have the two locking rings or the flared bell, which leads me to believe it's a regular Target Spot, not the Super. Mine also has "Super Target Spot" stamped on the scope and in white letters. Maybe someone who has both can shed some light on this.

Win. 52 scope question
I think that you have a Litschert Spotshot. If the front has a small screw and this allows the front objective to move forward and back a bit for the distance adjustment/focus and there is the power listed on the scope I think I may be correct. Litschert was a quality scope and mounts similar to Lyman and Unertl that came later. There were line indexes under the forward bell indicating distances for reference but not in yards or feet as I recall.
