"...so I can bug them in person..." Cost you more. There's one price for the item. Another, higher one, if you watch and a huge one if you want to help. Pestering the guy will cause delivery to be longer too.
Ask in your local gun shop or Tandy's Leather.

Are you looking for fancy or functional?

T. O’Heir: I’ve the dukets, not the time. I used to do custom home builds and am familiar with the P.I.T.A charges as well as the ID-ten-T errors. Ironically I’ve the leather and my own vacuum former just not the time. My main problem is I wear a proper man’s belt that is fully 2 5/16; cause I wear a kilt cause as mentioned I’m a manly man. I found a leather Smith actually who thinks they can handle the job for My 629 Stealth Hunter. But as I am so manly I went and put crescent moon-ish shaped blades on a matching pair of 1911s. The same Smitty has declined the opportunity to work on that project. I’m about 5 miles from a Tandy I may just have to make the time and do all of it myself, after all I’ve got my leather working merit badge from 23 years ago and YouTube. What could go wrong?

Big Al Hunter: honestly both, I got a pointed burr of sorts caught in my left buttcheek and the only way to get it out is to build a fancy old school Steamer Trunk for my lever action shotgun, corresponding ammo sash and revolvers.

The point of Tandy's is to ask 'em who is doing custom work.
My other point is that if you're continually calling the guy, he's going to get PO'd. Custom stuff takes longer anyway, but even longer if you pester the guy. Just like one of your clients who is constantly calling you to find out when his house will be done.
And it's Ducats.

T O’heir; I was hourly, loved when clients called to waste my time. Wives were the best means of a fair few Spondulicks added to the final request for remuneration. Apologies for my poor proofreading.

I'm not sure about the whole vacuum forming thing, but when i need leather work done, i let my fingers do the walking.
In the form of tack & harness shops.
Most can do some real quality work!
And will probably last you a lifetime.
