Whats really bad is the rifle is already for sale here in the U.S. in the civillian market from Ruger the same as they get them. If they wanted to import them to recoup the money its not like they could hurt anyones concious.

I agree it's a terrible shame, and a waste of money but orders are orders and the armourers are just doing as they are told. Our new weapons are here and the minis have to go, but I definitely believe they could have gone about it differently. The uzi's have already been disposed of, the rugers will be close behind. I'm just glad I had the chance to use them.

There is even a photo of the top British army officer firing the mini, he was down visiting us a couple weeks ago.

I can't tell if those are full auto or not from the picture; but the wood on that one rifle is stunning! I hope that stock makes its way to ebay.

You're not kidding there! I've never seen such figure in a factory stock stock on a Mini-14 (pun intended).

The fancy rifles will not be destroyed, they are not issue weapons, they are armourers projects. We have all sorts of unique rifles, but they are not issued out to troops. Once again these are not AC 556's they are just standard mini 14's with flash hiders, bayonet lugs and choate stocks.

The Mini14s are the smaller, higher capacity Garands. There's nothing funny about them. Ruger was late to the party when the M16s were already replacing the older heavier combat rifles in the US and other NATO armed forces. The Minis still grabbed a share of the internal security market in the US.

I've always been a Mini-14 fan. Good, solid, nice-looking guns. If they only had chrome lined barrels, they'd be perfect. Well, Ruger was one of the first to come out with an all stainless .223, so maybe he didn't see any need for a chrome lined barrel.

Anyway, the stocks on those two Mini-14's in the link have me mesmerized - They can't be factory, or if they are, someone got derned lucky!!!

@ LED, that second post was in response to a post that was making fun of the regiment, the original post was removed so my post is a bit out of context now, all issues were cleared up. I agree nothing funny about the mini.

I can't stand it!!! Is there anyway the stainless folder and the stainless Mini-14 rifle can be sold in the US??? Those are two of the pertiest Mini-14's I've ever seen. I keep clicking on this thread just to look at them.

Personally, I think the Mini-14 has far more "cool" factor than the HK G36. I know, wood and steel is out, plastic and aluminum is in.

Skans, if not the whole rifle, at least those stocks, then get a donor rifle here and dress them up! Those would be much easier to acquire than the whole rifle and perhaps bdareg could save those stocks without hastle.

Hey guys, those rifles with the pretty wood stocks are not getting destroyed, they are the armourers personal rifles and are just brought out on special occasions. They are not for sale unfortunately, and the those rifles in the picture are the only ones we have like that. But rest assured they will not be destryoyed.

Also, those photos are a bit deceiving, they make the stocks look like they are made of a beautiful piece of wood, in reality they are more like a veneer, they look good from a distance but not that great up close, I've held these rifles and they are not as great as they look in the picture.

Well, I'm just glad those two Mini's aren't getting destroyed. I know what you are saying about the stocks not looking that good in person - that one stock just looks too good to be true. Even if it looked something close to that (unless the figuring was done artificially with coloring), that is one rare Mini-14 stock. Let the guy who owns those Mini-14's know that we think he two fine looking rifles!
