Got an older Wingmaster
Hi gun enthusiasts. New to the forum and pleased to have found it.
I did some searching here but couldn't find anything that addressed my situation, so I thought I'd take a chance and ask for a little individual attention. I'll probably call Remington directly too, but it seems like sometimes those hotlines rush you and before you know it you're off the phone with less info that you'd have liked to be left with. That's one of the nice things about internet forums, y'know? Anyway, I have an 870 Wingmaster 16 gauge that had been gifted to my pa' back when he was a kid. Haven't checked but it's probably from the 50's. It has the 28" full choke barrel and here's what happened. Please be kind. Long story short, I blew out the end of barrel with a deer slug and am trying to figure out what options I have for replacement. There's a good chance my questions will reflect the fact that I'm a total gun noob, but here they are anyway: What available barrel(s) can be fitted to the gun without changing anything else? Does anyone still make a 28" full choke 16ga barrel like the original? and What do I have to do to convert it to a 12ga? Is that even an option? I think that covers it. What's the score here? (other than 0 for 5 on the deer) |

I think your best bets would either be send it off and have it shortened and choke tubes added or search for a used barrel on one of the online auction sites.
