Hearing protection
Who uses it? I haven't until recently and now have tinnitus and whatever the other thing is when you can't make out a single voice in a crowd.
I've just started using clamshells because the range makes it mandatory and then my son gave me these! Stereophonic and very cool. Read about them here. http://www.amazon.com/Peltor-Tactica.../dp/B0000X6I5I These things can actually INCREASE your hearing ability until the hammer falls. I can't wait to try them in the woods, I should be able to hear a deer f**t. That's foot to you youngsters.

I am sorry, but where have you been for the last couple or four decades?
For just how long have you been shooting without hearing protection? Do a search on terms like 'hearing protection" or "tinnitus" or "hearing damage" "electronic muffs" or "electronic hearing protection" and look at all the threads you will find here on the matter.

I had a pair of those cheap-o Peltor muffs and found them to be total trash. They crackled terribly and had a disorienting "compression suck" effect when they attenuated shots. You can't leave batteries in them and they break quickly and easily. They are the cheapest electronic muffs on the market for a reason.
I like these a lot better. They sound ok and they are still working after a whole summer's worth of hard use: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...923&t=11082005 |
