Factory Ammo

Whenever I fire my reload ammo, I check its accuracy against some factory loads. How can I determine the type and weight of the powder the factory is using?

The weight's easy - pull apart a factory round and weigh the charge. Unfortunately, it won't do you any good, since the powder the factory is using won't be identical to any canister-grade powder that you or I could buy.

That is like comparing an apple to an orange. Consistent results is what you are looking for.

About the best you can do is try to match the velocity and bullet weight of factory ammo to your reloads. Like mentioned above, factory powder ain't available to us peons...
