Republican-led House ban bill

This bill is sponsored by Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL). Don't know how many will sign on but, since the NRA gave its ok, I am sure others will on or write their own. The concerning issue is:

bans accessories that “increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic 16 rifle but [do] not convert” it into an automatic.

Accessories that can increase the rate of fire could be mean anything...magazines since it cuts down on reloads, grips, aftermarket triggers, etc..

"The National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law," the NRA said in a statement. "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."

The NRA did not need to endorse it. By them giving the OK to additional regulations, they might as well have given the thumbs up to Feinstein and Curbelo. In addition, GOP senators are now open to a possible ban. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/1...enators-243453

This video does a pretty good run down on it. I can't believe they're even going to try to pass it. I'm sure their intention is to get rid of bump stocks and echo triggers, but this has a strong potential to go after semi-autos in general. Get a hold of your rep and tell him/her to fight this tooth and nail!

I actually don't have an issue with the legislative branch addressing bumpfire stocks in the spirit of the NFA. I have a problem with poorly and vaguely worded measures that transfer incredible amounts of authority to agencies controlled by the executive branch.

Your conclusion doesn't follow from the NRA statement. There is a significant practical difference between a call for a review with an eye toward mere regulation, and an endorsement of addressing the topic by way of an act of congress.
