12 ga + reduced recoil=FUN!

Today I got to try out my Mossberg 590 with a Knoxx SpecOps and some reduced recoil slugs. This thing had been a bear to shoot before, but those two changes turned it into a █████ cat. Actually, I can't believe how comfortable the gun is to shoot now. And talk about fun. Blasting away with round after round; belching fire, steaming shells flying through the air, the building booming from the blast (indoor range). Holy chit was that fun.

I can't believe how much softer the Mossy is to shoot now. The Knoxx does a terrific job of smoothing and softening the recoil (I know, I'm late to the game now). Heck, my wife's not even afraid of the Mossy anymore.

Hmmm...I think I need to stock up on some 12ga ammo.

When I was big into trapshooting, I started out with the standard 1-1/8 oz. loads of #7-1/2 shot, and that was somewhat punishing. Once I started reloading, I went to 1oz. of #8 shot, and the lighter load was much better, but still capable of putting down a 25-straight score.

The bigger loads aren't always better.

Try shooting 15, 3.5" 12ga slugs in one sitting and see how your shoulder feels. I just did this on Suday and I can still barely type.

I'm actually looking for a good used 12ga just so I can put that SpecOps on it. Can't wait.

You a madman! I don't mind the 12 ga with standard ammo, but I wouldn't exactly call it fun to go through 50 rounds at the range. With my new setup, I could shoot several hundred rounds and be no worse for wear.
