This furthers my belief that when a knife enters the equation, welded with intent and opportunity, drawing and pointing is a very appropriate reaction.

For me, any weapon at all come's into the picture and I'm sorry the perp chose to bring something other than a gun to a gun fight! I'm an old guy!

Shows the importance keeping your distance, the officer was lucky the guy missed the initial dive.
