M&P Shield 9 - Personal Defense Ammo that Didn't Work Well

Just picked up a Shield 9. Rather than tell me PD ammo that does work tell me about PD ammo you've tried that DID NOT work.

Here you go. I did a test with a bunch of loads in my 9mm Shield; here you go.

I bought some 124 gr HP from Freedom Munitions for my Shield and I've had 7 failure to eject and 5 failure to fire on them. Most of those were from one box and I've shot another couple boxes without issue but that one box was enough to make sure I wouldn't count on that as PD ammo.

Wish I could tell you, but I've run 124-gr. +P Gold Dot Short Barrel, 127-gr. +P+ Winchester Ranger, 147-gr. Ranger Bonded, and 147-gr. +P and standard pressure HST through mine without a hiccup.

Thanks for the video Plouffedaddy, I just bought a Shield 9mm last week too. So far I've put 50 rounds of 115gr Speer LE ball and another 250 or so of reloads through it. I keep 147gr Gold Dot in my P228 and have that in the Shield for now, just haven't got back out to test it yet. Pretty confident it will run just fine, though.

I aways find my self with speer hp bullets in my defense handguns. Be it the old standard Gold Dot or the newer unicorn bonded GD . They have allways been dependable in every handgun I have tried them in so I stopped try'n others for the sake of a better bullet. I have from time to time shot other brands to test ammo made by the same company when out of GD's but I cc speer only bullets.

Just so you know, FM does not sell defensive 9mm ammo. What you bought was a competition HP load. It is not in any way designed to expand.

All the good stuff works in them....if you want some that doesn't, try some off the brand reloads or something like that.

Plouffedaddy,I'm sure you've heard this before, but your muzzle awareness
scares the CRAP out of me.

"Muzzle awareness" you have to be careful not to sweep those stationary cameras.

Seriously?... Aiming at a camera that you happen to be looking at from behind a computer screen?...

I did not know that. I thought that hollow point was hollow point. I had no idea there were any differences. I snapped up a bunch of rounds back in January when it was the only thing I could find. I didn't plan to use it as defensive ammo, I just needed ammo to shoot.

There are indeed differences. They are my ammo sponsor, and the Noveske Shooting Team shoots that exact load in competition.

I looked at the video a second time just to check this. Didn't see a problem at all, assuming nobody was standing to the side of him out of camera range. He obviously did not test at a range.
