FNX .45

I need some guidance here. I am looking at a used FNX .45 with three mags and the guy wants $550. Is that too much for this gun? I am hearing mags are hard to find and expensive and that this gun can not be detail stripped.

Any help is appreciated.

Nope, that's a decent price. My LGS had them for $650 before the panic.

I'd buy it. My duty piece is an FNP45 Tactical, great guns.

Seems fair to me. I'm a big proponent of FN, great company, great products.

Ok. Thanks for the help. I'll pick it up today and can't wait to shoot it! The funny thing is this will be my truck gun. I was looking for something a little less expensive for this purpose but the previously less expensive guns are about the same price now.

Buy it. I bought a gen4 Glock 21 only because i didn't have the time to save the differance for a FNX-45. But i like DA/SA pistols.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but am considering one of these FNX 45s.

Can they digest a steady diet of +P ammo?

Define exactly what you mean by "steady diet"? And I feel any gun manufacturer says to not give a steady diet of any +p or +p+ rounds.

You can carry and shoot it here and there to test if it functions...but a steady diet will wear the gun out more. And +p or +p+ has more recoil than standard pressure and will surprise the heck out of you if you don't train with it enough.

I feel a little iffy. I have carried and shot it before. I'm back to standard. I feel it's plenty.

I had an FNX-40 some time ago. Of all the firearms I have bought and traded, I regret getting rid of that one the most. Was just an excellent firearm. I'd love one in 45.

Don't know why you'd want feed it a "steady diet of +P ammo" since it comes at the expense of increased wear and tear on the gun and your wallet both. I'm sure the gun could handle it fine but I can't think of a good reason for it.

The duty ammo in my FNP45T is +P but I only shoot enough to assure reliable function and then burn up what I've been carrying when we qualify and load up fresh afterwards. I carry the same ammo in my off duty gun (a 1911) but the formula is the same - shoot enough to be confident that it functions, use it up when qualifying and replace with fresh. All other shooting I do, whether training, practice, or competition is with standard pressure ammo.

They are excellent guns. I've been told the mags are diff. fnp vs FNX. The FNX has a few upgrades over the fnp, most importantly it has more chamber support. I have owned 5 total 2 fnp 3 FNX all 45 acp. On my examples the D/A pull was about the same but the S/A pull is a little nicer on the FNX. The trigger plus its ability to soak up recoil make it a very accurate Pistol. The fit and finish is also a little nicer on the newer models FNX

anyone know if there's an aftermarket?

I have an FNX 9, and I'm looking for a few part upgrades for it. I want to get a metal safety lever, (I'm left handed and the darn thing is loose), A trigger kit, different sights, and possibly a magazine extension. Anyone know if/where I can get this stuff?
