Wards Hercules

Hi all,

I reciently inherited a Wards "Hercules" model 50 16 gauge sxs from my aunt. It belonged to my great uncle , and was his hunting and general purpose shotgun. I believe that "Wards" was Montgomery Wards, but like my Sears & Roebuck 30/30 was made by another company. From the safety, I think possibly mossberg. One barrel reads "Proof tested 16 gauge" and the other "Selected forged steel". Also some random stamped numbers around the reciever area. I confess that I so not know much about doubbleguns, although I have always loved them (i remember this one over his mantle many years ago). If anyone can help me find out more on this, I would appreciate it. Take down etc...

Thanks,

Wheelgun

I think your right on Monkey Wards - it was made by someone else, marketed under their name. Probably a Stevens, but I'll transfer this thread to Harley's forum so you can get a definitive answer.

Thanks guys,

Looking under the barrel, there is a cartouche (SP?) stamped with a large S and a P/T within the curves of the S. Not a great description, but may help.

The Hercules 50 is actually the Stevens model 5100 and was sold by Monkey Wards.

Ward Hercules Model SD 10 B

I inherited the above shotgun. It's a 12 Gauge. I'm trying to find more information on it such as year it was made, who made it, etc.
Can anyone direct me?
The links above didn't give me any info.
Also has a stamp on it that says 94B but not attached to the word "Model"
Thanks

Wards Hercules was made by Stevens, a early fore runner of thier Model 94. Made in the 1920s/1930s.
