Good deal on a ruger old army?

Came across a ROA in a local gun store for $450. Gun is in great shape. Is it a good deal?

That's the max I'd probly pay for one ... would depend ion model year made fixed or adjustable sites stainless steel or blued...bbl length 5 1/2 or 7 1/2. but if it's great shape and you want it it's a good price I would say.

I doubt they will get any cheaper, being out of production and all.

Ok here's the update. It's got the 5 1/2 inch barrel, blued, with adjustable sights.

Completed auctions on GB show that model selling for $575-$600. $450 is a good buy for a 5.5 inch in good condition.

Why is it....

...that the short barrels seem to bring higher prices than the seven and a half? More desirable for CAS?

IIRC the 5.5" barrel with adjustable sights is much more rare and harder to find, since not very many of them were made. Maybe the Ruger Forum can offer more information about how many of them were actually made. But $450 is about the price of a used blue 5.5" ROA with fixed sights.
