TruGlo TFO sights for XD-9

Have any of you had issues with fit of the TruGlo TFO sights? I brought my Springfield XD-9 Tactical to someone known in local circles as a VERY good gunsmith, and he told me that there would be a small gap between the front sight and the slide. I asked him if he thought it was a big deal, and his answer was along the lines of, "only if it is to me." That's got me a bit reluctant since I would think that a quality sight would fit well and not leave any gapping.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, would you do it again knowing that the gap will exist?
