New AR Purchasing Questions

Like many others due to the likelihood of some kind of new gun bill being passed I would like to purchase a decent pre-built AR15. From my searching it appears the best choice is a Colt, specifically the 6920. Is this correct or is there a better model I should consider?

If I do purchase a colt, are all the parts interchangeable if I decide to customize it in the future? I'll probably want to change the stock, grip & add rails. Is this possible buying the Colt 6920?

Also, any suggestions on where to purchase these? Looking online most are sold out and the ones that aren't are $1300+. Is this the price I should expect to pay if I want to purchase one now?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's possible. There are two main "sizes" often referred to as Mil-Spec and Commercial. The 6920 will be Milspec.

Colt is an indisputably good choice, but they aint cheap. I paid $1899 for my 6920 SOCOM II

[Edit]

And yeah, if you do buy a 6920 everything will be changeable. No worries there.

The Colt 6920 is an excellent choice and easily upgraded with milspec parts. BCM, Daniel Defense, PSA and others also are excellent choices. The main problem now is finding what you want in stock.

And probably for the next several months. If it wasn't Christmas and being strapped because of it, I'd be hitting my locals and even the Walmarts looking for another 6920 before the basic model starts hitting 1500+.

Thanks for the help! I sent an email to the link provided, we'll see what they have to say and I'm going to contact some local places to see what they have in stock tomorrow.

From the looks of all the empty shelves in most guns shops you better make your mind up soon and hope you can find it.
