hoping to start an unknown distance shoot

I am fascinated with the unknown distance long range tac shoots. A friend calls them sniper wanna- be matches, and I read a post once that called them sniper golf. Anyhow.....

There is some public land in the area that seems near ideal for such a matsh, and its clear who I need to approach as far as land managers go. I likely will only get one opportunity to "pitch" this idea/match.

What I need is more info/material to present (to the managers) on what I'd like to try and establish. I do not see the unknown shoots as NRA events, though it would be a likely agency with which to start.

Anybody know any other sources for info or guidance????
