CZ-75 Compact?
Does anyone know when CZ introduced the CZ-75 Compact with the decocker? I'm trying to help a writer who knows nothing about guns get her gun background correct enough that it won't wave any red flags in front of readers who know something about guns.
Related question (for the same writer): Is the Walther PPK and PPK/S a traditional DA/SA action, or is it DAO?

That is the CZ 75 Compact BD, and was only made in limited runs, however the stock safety can be switched out with the decocker. The PCR with is a compact with an aluminum frame comes with a decocker. The CZ 75 was designed in 1975 and the different variants came out at different years(don’t have the exact one handy). They also make the P-01 with a steel frame, also in limited runs as well, great shooters.

The CZ 75 was not widely available in the U.S. until 1993, when Action Arms began importing it. So if she is writing about an American character in the U.S.A. setting, then no she wouldn’t have any CZ unless she specifically went out of her way to get one. The 75 D compact began production in 1997 after police trials in 1996, and then Israel ordered them with a decocker in 1999. This led to the PCR in 2000-2001 production.

The P-01 is aluminum-framed.

Nope, P01 with decocker is alloy
P01 with safety is steel framed. Uncommon gun that CZ makes in small batches. The above time frame sounds correct. The compact decockers were steel frames. Very rare PCRs have an alloy frame. The difference between P01 and PCR P01 has rail and no LCI. The alloy frames have vertical serations on the grip and an upswept beaver tail. |

BTW- my 2020 CZ 75D Compact is an alloy frame- not steel. According to CZUSA's website, they get whatever they can and sell it: the CZ 75 D Compact is just a rollmark difference compared to the PCR.
But, they are alloy frames. I just detail stripped it. it wasn't steel. |

Not trying to stir things up, but I find this post interesting. Unusual, actually.
You posted an almost identical post a LONG time ago. Almost word for word. Is the writer really having that much trouble finding information on CZ pistols? Just curious….. |

I made the original post in April -- five months ago. Are you saying I asked the same question once before? If so, I certainly don't remember having done so.

Yes Aguilar, to you. Should have clarified that.
My memory must be getting bad. I thought I remember another post from before that. Hmm…. |

Jabski, I don't know if you were aiming the comment at Aguila Blanca or myself. He has spoken for his comments, but you posted immediately after mine.
I didn't own a CZ until about 4 weeks before your join date. While I realize that we all will read a lot on forums before we join, the fact that you joined today to make the comment and then suggest we are stirring the pot seems, well, interesting... |

Jmstr, I was replying to him. I don’t know how to reply to a particular post, so I replied about the post being something that I thought I saw a long time ago. Which is what I said. Also thought that it was odd, in that context. He reminded me that the post was from April, and I replied about my memory not being so great.
Didn’t really notice the post date before I replied. Which means I guess I saw it from APRIL and FORGOT. And yeah, I created an account to reply to that. Sorry if you have problems with that, and TBH, I didn’t even notice your post. I honestly thought I had been a member here a long time ago, but couldn’t find anything in my list of passwords. No wait, I just re read YOUR post. I was saying I wasn’t trying to stir things up, not the other way around. |

Since the question was answered and I passed the information along to the writer who asked about it months ago, there's not much need to continue this discussion. It seems to have taken a rather strange turn, so I think we'll just close it before it gets any more weird.
