Went to the range with my Colt and my Vortex setup
I have a Strikefire and a VMX3 with the swing out mount- and here's the results, the better being at 25 yards after sighting in there, and the second at 100 yards where the dot was about the same size as the black circle in the center of this splatter target... However, there was also a steel gong at 225 I could ring like churchbells all day long that the guys at the range (first and unfortunately probably the only time I'll be down that way far enough to shoot there) say was the size of an elk's vitals area.

Sounds like your combination is working for you. Anybody who can hit a 10 inch gong with a red dot at 200+ yards standing is doing something right!

True that. I was sitting and using a bipod. It was more get aquainted than skill testing/building. Second time on the rifle, first time with optics.
