Best: To me it would be between a P series Sig and a 59 series Smith.

Worst: Have to go with Hi Point.

For the best looking, like many have already posted, 1911 wins. And like a few have said, the BHP is a close second.

Ugliest has to go to Nambu, with Hi-Point being a very close second.

Best Looking: Browning Hi Power

For ugly I don't even remember what it was, but it looked like a cordless drill with a huge battery pack. It may have been a High Point... not sure.

I'm not brand loyal enough to claim a HK VP70, that thing is ugly, I won't beat the glock to death. I know it's not an auto but the S&W Model 29, a masterpiece. MMMMM

The N frames are beautiful, but they are not semiautos.

I think it's hard to beat the look of the stainless 92FS Beretta.

As far as current guns go, I have to say I'm not a fan of the appearance of the Kel-Tec PMR 30. It wouldn't stop me from buying one though...

ugliest is the factory bubba job lock on current S&W revolvers

oh, autos? Rugers are ugly, except for the original .22s. Yes Ruger center fires.

Browning is the best looking.

I agree, even though I don't own one, I still think the 1911 probably looks the best. Thankfully, with firearms, looks are hardly the most important when it comes down to it.

Ugliest, in terms of current and popular semi-autos, IMHO, is the Beretta PX4 Storm Subcompact. Just hideous looking guns...chunky and stubby is the only way to describe them.

I personally don't find Glock semiautos "ugly", they are just incredibly boring and spartan.

I like the looks of the early Walther PPK/S and the P5. I also like the looks of the HK 45C. I don't like the looks of Glock pistols, or the S&W M&P.

hm, skimming through the posts, I'd conclude...

...the 1911 is by far the best looking semiauto for most people.

...whereas the High Point, the Jap Nambu Type 94 (which would be my entry as well) and, surprisingly, the Glocks are considered the worst looking pieces.

One must admit that the Glock is not fashionable designed, but it surprises me that such a popular gun is seemingly much despised in terms of appearance...

Best - 1911 followed by Beretta 92

Worst- Glock- High piont

I like a handgun that has curves and a few aesthetic features. Glocks look like someone cut a chuck out of a 2x6 then painted it black.

I just knew I couldn't be the only one that saw the resemblance of the Hi Point to a cordless drill!

The ones I particularly like by looks are:

P08 Luger 4”
Automag 44/357 magnum
S&W 945
S&W745
S&W 952
Walther P99 (original)
High Standard Victor 5.5”
Beretta 70/71 6”
1911

Ones I particularly don’t like the looks:

Walther PPQ
HK (polymer versions only)

Walther is interesting because of the rather dramatic change over the years. Since the P5, P88 and P99 Walther placed a good deal of effort in aesthetic appeal. Then comes along the PPQ with virtually no appeal. The P99 went through a number of changes, not a good thing IMO.
