holster
Hello
I ordered an HK USP compact .45 and it will arrive within a a few weeks, so i am already looking for a IWB holster for it, problem is, i don't know which kind of holster (kydex or leather) will give my gun the least amount of holster wear, any suggestions? |

I prefer leather myself. I have no idea which would give less wear though. My guns seem to hold just fine in my leathers.

What actually causes finish wear is not the holster material, it's dirt and grit that get embedded in the holster. So the answer may be whatever you can clean easily and keep clean. That might be Kydex. My experience has been that you will experience finish wear with any holster so I don't think it's worth worrying about too much. If it is a gun you're going to carry a lot, it's going to show holster wear after a awhile. I would consider a smooth easy draw and weapon retention the most important considerations for any carry rig. And it needs to offer a reasonable degree of comfort or you won't wear it much. Just my 2 cents.

+1 to both replies. I also prefer leather holsters. You will get less wear with Kydex though. I also agree that getting a rig that keeps the gun concealed is job 1.
Here are a few ideas: Galco Online High Noon Down Under This is my carry rig For Kydex, try Comptac, Bladetech/5.11 Tactical (Same holsters), Fobus. You can also find a lot of ideas here: The Firing Line Holster Thread Enjoy!!

neither; suggest not looking at it
Holster wear for guns that go in and out of holsters regularly is a simple fact of life.
I have nylon, leather, injection-molded plastic, neoprene, and Kydex holsters. All my guns, including hardchromed, NP3, electroless nickel/boron carbide substrate, stainless steel, aluminun, and blued, all show wear. BFD, ay?
