This is a paramilitary type weapon that looks similar to an AR 15. It has a folding stock, carrying handle and is clip fed. It is semi-automatic with a pump in case of jams or when using low powered ammo (just like the Spas 12).

Was this sold in the States? I have seen it in Argentina and Italy but can find no record of it on the net. Would like to find one as I would like to acquire one.

Speaking of Chris' SPAS Page, Chris just updated it with some new SPAS15 information. http://chris.cc/spas12.htm

Yes the Franchi SPAS 15 was sold in the US, but only 120 to 180 were imported. I think they’ve been banned from further import (1996) so prices have rocketed since then.

You can still buy them here in the UK with a 24” barrel.

Check out Chris Cooney’s site (above) for SPAS 15 information including a user’s manual I scanned recently. Also take a look at some SPAS 15 reviews (from UK magazines) on my site at http://homes.acmecity.com/rosie/show...84/spas15.html . For some reason it only works with Internet Explorer (not Netscape) and I haven’t got time to fix it. If you need the scans just email me.

Prices in the US start around $4000.

Check out some cool photos of the SPAS 15 with a sound suppressor at :
http://personal.inet.fi/business/ref...ors/spas15.jpg and
http://personal.inet.fi/business/ref...s/measure.html

Also keep checking with www.gunsamerica.com for SPAS 15’s for sale.

Mark.

A very good friend of mine acquired one last year. Believe it or not he used it pheasant hunting! The only problem I can see is he cannot find parts for it. It is cool though. I could ask him about selling it, but more than likely if you don't have a really cool trade he won't part with it.

the problem with using a SPAS 15 for pheasants, is the need to bring along a Jack Russel terrier.

One look at that gun and the birds go to ground in the nearest woodchuck hole!

He may take it again this year. I will have to get a picture and post it. I laughed til I cried. He just filled the sky with lead.
