HOAX: President of major gun company taken into custody
MODERATOR EDIT: This is a hoax. See my post below for confirmation. -- Vanya
--------------------------------- This is insane, this guy was picked up and his shotguns confiscated on the word of a cab driver telling police he thought the guy was a terrorist. He had two lawyerscome to the police station and he was eventually released with advice to leave the state............ http://www.examiner.com/article/shot...alerts_article Last edited by Evan Thomas; May 20, 2013 at 06:38 PM. |

That's just astonishing. But I'm afraid we're going to see more and more incidents like this in the future as DHS convinces everyone to report on everyone else.

This is ridiculous. The passenger was Daniele Perazzi, president of an Italian shotgun company. Apparently, he'd shown a few prototypes at a trade show and brought those with him on the cab ride.
Thanks to a "if you see it, say it" program Denver cabbies have, the driver reported Perazzi as a terrorist. Perazzi is planning legal action.

What - the double barrel sports shotgun is the preferred instrument of the administration!
Oops - is that political? Bad moderator.

How stupid can they be? The guy is attending a freakin' GUNSHOW and these bozos arrest/detain him AT the show. If I am him I would be filing suit against the cabbie, his company, the PD and the individual officers. I'm a retired LEO and sometimes I can not believe the stupidity some of these supposedly trained officers exhibit. Geez, you would think the first clue for these sherlocks would be that the guy is attending a gunshow. I realize they had to respond to the call to investigate but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is going on once they arrived there.

Umm...
Daniele Perazzi died last November. His son, Mauro, now runs the company. Here's an obituary from Sporting Shooter Magazine. And none of the people purportedly interviewed, including one of his attorneys and Mr. Schreiner, managed to get his name right?? There's something really wrong with this story.

From a Denver station: Note the slam at Dick Cheney.

Let's hope Mr. Perazzi is as vengeful as he is rich. This could get good in court.

The Perazzi company has confirmed that this is a HOAX.
PRESS RELEASE from Perazzi S.p.A. With reference to press reports concerning Daniele Perazzi's alleged unlawful arrest for terrorism last Saturday in Denver (Colorado), we state that the incident is devoid of any foundation and the news is completely fabricated. Daniele Perazzi (founder of Perazzi SpA) died last year, and his son Mauro was not in the United States last Saturday. The Perazzis are not involved in any wrongdoing in any way, shape or form and, to our best knowledge, are not under investigation or scrutiny nor are targets of criminal proceedings. The Perazzi Company, contrarily to what has been reported, is very familiar with the US legislation on weapons due to its extensive presence in the American market. Perazzi is considering to take legal action to protect the brand and the Company's reputation in the USA. Perazzi SpA
