Scope with long eye relief
I'm looking for an inexpensive rifle scope with a long eye relief, probably around 8 or 9 inches. Suggestions would be much appreciated, as this is a new world for me.
Thanks |

Try Leupold's Scout Scope@$239. It has the eye relief you require.
Burris makes a cheaper Scout model. Cheaper still, you'll have to get a cheap Simmons or Tasco shotgun or pistol scope. With optics, you get what you pay for. |

Thanks for the reply...
It looks like to get the magnification and the eye relief that I need that I'm looking at a handgun scope (I've got my eye on the Leupold EER 2.5-8Xx32). What makes these scopes "handgun"? Could you mount it on a rifle and have no problems? Am I losing anything that should make me just go with a different system entirely? Thanks again! |

I've the L 2.5X8 EER on a Contender - shoots a wildcat in the .308 Win-class. Stout recoil & stout scope. Mounted it, dialed it in & it has stayed there for 6+ years.
IIRC, the eye relief for this scope is 12-24" - dialed in at the ocular. Great sight piture & one tough scope. I see no problems mounting on a rifle. May want to actually see one in person & make certain that you get the sight picture/eye relief you want at your described distance. |
