Question about 91/30 cleaning rods

I recently acquired a Finnish Mosin 91/30. It has the SA stamp on the receiver and is a 1944. It is missing the cleaning rod. I want to get one for it. Will any cleaning rod for a Mosin 91/30 work or does it have to be specific to the Finnish 91/30. I would think that any 91/30 cleaning rod would work but want to make sure. Thanks!

I believe you have a Finnish M91, not a M91-30. The barrel is longer on the M91, so I don't think the M91-30's cleaning rod will fit all the way thru the bore on a M91.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still learning about Mosins. I will look for a M91 cleaning rod.

Actually, it is an M91/30. The rear sight and spring retained barrel bands are indicators.

So a cleaning rod for a Russian 91/30 should fit the Finnish? It would certainly make things easier.

What is the difference between a Finnish M91 and a Finnish 91/30?

The M91 has a 3" longer barrel, and the barrel bands use screws to clamp down and stay on. It also has different sights.

Either a Russian or Finnish cleaning rod will work, since the Finns used both.

^^ This.

You need a 26-1/4" cleaning rod. Going to be very difficult to find, I think...
