Want an sp-101
Might be willing to trade an XDm .45 for it. Just wondering how feesable that is. Figure i would get a few opinions before actually looking for a trade.
*Edit* I guess I should specify that I want an SP-101 2 1/4 or 3.06 in .357 magnum. The XDm is a 4.5 inch with 5 mags and all the normal goodies in the case, plus a little ammo.

The SP is worth considerably less than the XD. If you're fine with that, then why not.
Granted prices across the board have gone up, but I sold my 3" SP three years ago for $350. |

An XDm with 5 magazines is worth considerably more than an SP-101
I think you would be losing on the trade but I am sure you would find someone to make that trade really quickly. |

See I wasnt sure, I paid $559 for the XDm a few years ago, and seems like SP-101 is going for $600 plus. maybe I can get a trade plus cash.

I was kind of shocked the other day when I saw a used SP101 for $625 at a LGS.

Holey smokes! I haven't looked at SP prices I guess in a while. I bought mine last spring for what I thought was normal price.
I think I'd wait out the madness that is buying guns right now. They'll come back down that few hundred bucks to get back into one I'm sure.

Want an sp-101
I LOVE my sp101s. 2 and 3 inch. 2 inch for normal carry. 3 inch as backup carry if needed and woods gun. I got the 3 inch used for 450 and the 2 inch for 399. Both very recently. Just like the wheel guns!!!! I would trade if it were me, and both my sp101s seam seriously indetructable. I couldnt imagine me liking another firearm as much as i like them.
I will say i upgraded to night front sights. And 357 with the stock grips were bruital. For me, it was around the top of the grip, it bit my hand where the thumb curls around the very top of the grip. On the 3 inch i put rubber hogues on it and zero problem. I could shoot 200 .357 mags straight. Still not sure what i am going to do for the 2 incher to keep it very consealable. Keep it as is and limit 357 or get some small wood grips maybe. |

More and more I am wanting an sp101. I was tempted by a Rossi R461 today, but the only up is 6 rounds, and let's face it, its not a Ruger. I have had my fun with the XDm.

In my neck of the woods used SP101s are going for well over $500, thats when/if you can even find one. Heck I havent seen a new one in quite awhile. The extra you pay becomes miniscule over time. I got mine last year for $470 used and I consider myself lucky. Good luck, my SP will be in my safe for a very long time.

I would keep the XDm .45. If you want a trade it I would get a better Revolver for it.

Its driving me nuts that I cant find an SP101 anywhere around here. I mean there are a couple of .22lr's just not what I am looking for. Can find Taurus .38 Poly's at all the LGS's and even at the Pawn Shops, and a Rossi 461, even a Charter Arms in .38 but no ruger .357's. sorry to rant and vent but Dammit I Want One.

And they're going for that regularly on GB these days. Who knew?
