I love N-frames!
I love N-frames. As far as I'm concerned they're the epitome of revolver design. For me, they're the easiest of guns to shoot. Their sights are, for whatever reason, easiest to visualize, and their big frames really soak up the recoil. Alas, I own only two of them, so far, a Smith & Wesson Model 27-3 and a 625JM. However, time and finances permitting, I'm going to rectify that deficit.
So, who of you out there are with me on this one? Who loves N-frames? |

you can't just decide one frame size is it. i tryed and for me, it started with the K frames, a couple m10's and an m13.
i thought they were the shizzle. small, lite, just like a fine lady, curvy in all the right places, but sturdy enough to handle a long winter.....awesome. the L frame was next, an m581, not quite as small but still bite sized, same size grip as the K's, just a little beefier in the shoulders to handle heavier work....awesome. then the N frames came along, model1917s, m28s, m29s. man sized guns for man sized rounds with man sized amounts of lead and powder in order to fix man sized problems in the world......awesome. and then the X framed guns showed up. and anything worth doing right with the N frames is worth doing with an X frame.....awesome. i guess anything with s&w on it is just great in my book.....

I like different frame sizes, but N-Frames definitely are my favorites. My first revolver was a Model 28 and after all the shooting I've done with it, a good N-Frame just feels right.

My favorite is this slightly modified M58. Of the production guns, a special nod goes to the old M27 5". Great holster gun in the day when the revolver was the LE weapon of choice. One of my 4" 28s went to the custom shop to be bored to .44 special. Then, I bought a 6.5" Model 24 and had it chopped to 5". A M624 4" followed. A 6" M57 was my hunting gun for many years. The 6" 29 was a good choice but I preferred the .41 mag over the .44. Yeah, I guess I am fond of an N frame alright.

I can't make up my mind what frame size I like 'best', I like them all. With 2 N's, 2 L's, 6 K's and 3 J's it's S&W heaven.

The N-frames are my favorites as well and the only S&Ws I own these days. Given the topic of this thread, can't resist posting this picture:
This is the one that started it all. Variously known as the 1st Model 44 Hand Ejector, the New Century and most commonly the Triple Lock. The one pictured shipped in 1914 with a 5" barrel, fixed sights and blue finish. It was affordable because someone re-blued it. This old warrior put 5 of the factory rounds shown into a 2" group at 20 yards. Dave

Couldn't agree more. I have a 4" Model 28 and a 5" pre-war HEavy Duty. N frames are great.

LOVE THE N Frames
IMHO S&W has, and when they put their mind to it, still makes the finest double action revolver in the world. Yet there is something special about the older model N frame revolvers the triple lock, 38/44, the venerated registered magnum and its’ successors. Even though I haven’t carried one to work for years; to this day, I would never feel under gunned with a quality N frame S&W.

JimZ makes me want to buy some more stag grips...
28-2s: Model 57 no dash, .41 magnum: Model 629 no dash: N-frame Smith & Wessons are addictive.

Yep, I love my three M-25s and two M-57s...and let's not forget my M-27.
I no longer own any J or L frames. I still have a K frame or two, and would have a hard time letting go of them, but if I could only own one revolver, it would probably be an N-frame. |

Three (currently) Model 28s (6in) and a 29-2. N frames are the best!
