bp barrel porting?

sorry if this sounds dumb or odd but i see that modern pistols have barrels that are ported, would this work on a bp revolver or just make matters worse.

That would be something to see!

That would be something to see!!! The old six gun spewing smoke in three directions........

I don't see why it couldn't be done.......but I don't really see a practical use. Shooting 30 grs my Remington is a █████ cat! Besides, a little muzzle flip sets you up to re-cock. It might be useful on a double action Starr though.....

Still...it would look pretty awesome.

I don't want to sound macho, but black powder guns don't generate that much flip or recoil and if one find it does, simply reduce the powder charge. Porting the barrel means more to clean to me.

To date, I have only seen two M/L pistols that were ported but these are new designs. I see no reason or purpose in porting and you would sure ruin some classic lines.

Be Safe !!!
