Tell me about side mount scope mounts
I recently came into pocession of a savage model 340 in .222 cal.The rifle has a split reciever and came with a side mount and a cheap 4x32 scope.I understand the the split reciever precludes the use of standard weaver type scope mounts. Is it possible to get a solid mount for a 6.5x20 simmons scope and is the side mount a solid base?Thanks in advance ELMO
