Got my bird

It's opening day in Michigan and I scored. Well, it's not the biggest bird in the world but I called him and a jake in and whacked him. He didn't call at all. I had a set up that was just perfect. I would have had to really mess up to be spotted. He was as close as 10 yards and I finally let him have it at about 15. He's about a 6" beard with not quite 1" spurs. Good good eat'in!

Yeah, Genesee county spring gobbler. We are getting so many birds down here. I remember when you had to go up north to even have a chance.

Nice bird

Good hunting. So do you remove all the feathers and make him look store bought. Or skin it? I've wondering how people clean their turkeys.

Skin it and breast it out. The legs and wings aren't much.

Congrats

I got one friday at less than 7 yards. He had a weird beard. Only the bottom 1/3 was growing and the last two inches were curvy.
It was only 7 1/4" and should have been more like 9 1/2" (comparing his spurs to others I have killed/seen in the area)

Looks like a good enough bird to me! And when the bead was on him, he looked plenty big I'm thinkin'. Way to go.
