How to carry a submachine pistol concealed?

How to carry a submachine pistol, such as the Mac10 or Uzi concealed?? What kind of holsters are available?

Used to be a nice rig called the SMZ for the MAC room brooms, buddy of mine used one for his MAC when he carried it, 10 round mag in it, two 32 round mags offside. Yes, it was perfectly legal. Other than that, check for rigs with places like Zahal in Israel, where they might expect to carry UZIs concealed.

DeSantis made this rig for the UZI and MAC series back in the day. Pretty large and heavy guns to be carrying.

Similar items are/were available for the MP5 K and PDW

Of course the Glock 18 can fit any CCW rig made for Glock.

The only holster I have personally seen looked like that DeSantis rig.

I believe they have also been commonly carried in briefcases, although that could be slower to access.

There are two rigs I have seen used that look good.

The U.S. Secret Service has used black over the shoulder slung bags. These came in after President Regan was shot, and the agent had a hard time deploying the stock on his Uzi. The gun was carried on the weak side with the stock extended.

A long time ago, the Brits made a hard shell briefcase, with a release under the grip. Carried in the weak hand, muzzle to the rear, when the release was pressed, the sides of the hard case fell away. The 'handle' of the case was attached to the scope mount on an MP5. By twisting the hand, the gun was fired with the strong hand while the weak hand held the case grip. Very fast, total concealment.

There are a few problems with that setup - I have seen it fired.
1. Aiming - mostly they depend on a laser, which is hard to see in bright sunlight.
2. Technique - If you try to shoot if from the 'carry' position, recoil usually makes you shoot yourself in the leg. The preferred technique was to brace the case laterally just above the belt line.
3. Brass - as brass builds up in the case, it causes jams.

Nice idea, looks good in the movies, but I question it's usefulness on the two way range.

The pic itself is from his web site. I've used his holsters almost exclusively for over 20 years, great stuff. And No, I don't get a kickback from him, I just really like good gear and he is top notch!
