Customizable two-gun rig
I am wanting a gun belt with two holsters. I want one strong side holster for my 4" S&W M29, and a cross draw holster for a 5.5" Ruger Vaquero.
Both are chambered in .44mag. I really want the same rig for my S&W 586 6" and 4 5/8" Uberti El Patron, both in .357mag. I don't necessarily know WHY I want these rigs, but my question is where to get something like this. The only source I've found is Circle KB, which allows double-action and single action matching rigs. The price is up there, a little over $500 for the ones I looked at online. Where else should I look? |

Try Nelsonholsters.com
I believe that they do, or at least have done, work like this. And, no matter what, it's going to be spendy.

I'm looking at the Mernickle Cowboy Action CA5-6 rig: $339
"The CA5-6 incorporates our most asked for belt and holster combination. This is all double laminated products; which means both the holsters and the belt are fully lined. We then incorporate two t-nuts on the back of the holsters just below the belt line. By having these you can position the holsters in the optimum shooting positions. Then by simply tightening the screws down the holsters will always remain where you want them. Also by doing this there is NO holster lift when you draw the gun. These holsters are also hard molded so when you draw the gun they DO NOT COLLAPSE, making re-holstering a breeze. By packaging these together as a system we have also offered you a special price for the set." This rig will be made for my 4" M29 strongside and 5.5" Vaquero in cross draw. |

"...don't necessarily know WHY..." "I want one." is a reason.
However, you'll need to make it or buy 2 holsters that will fit onto a belt. It's because a holster for an M29 is a different shape than one for an SAA style revolver. Entirely doable. Doesn't appear that Mernickle makes that style though. They might so ask 'em. It's basically the same big belt loop as the one in your picture, but made for an 'N' frame Smith. Like this guy's CH- 1A ~ RANCH HOLSTER. I'd guess he does one for an 'L' frame too. http://www.westernleatherholster.com...ther-holsters/ A S&W 586 take a slightly different holster than an M29 due to the frame sizes. "...they DO NOT COLLAPSE..." Neither does any properly made holster.

jwise beat me to it. Check out Bob Mernickle. He is a fast draw champion and holster maker. Give him a call, he should be able to help you. I have one of his PS6-SA for a 5.5 inch Ruger Vaquero in 44 Magnum.

I pulled the trigger on the Mernickle rig pictured above. I called and they confirmed I can spec just about anything and they can do it.
The only cowboy/revolver holster I own I bought years ago in a resale shop between Texas and Montana when I was driving up one summer. It fits my Vaquero nicely. Since then, the only gun belt 'rig' I bought was made by Safariland. |
