Answers to Poll (drum roll please,.........)

In the last two weeks or so, . . . we had a thread asking what your concealed hand gun is, . . . and we got 170+ entrants. Here are the results:

304 entries

Average capacity 9.74 rounds

123 different models/styles

The top caliber was 9mm (87) followed by .45 ACP (67), next was .40 cal (39), and bunching together for the next three places: .38 spec (29), .357 mag (27), and .380 (25).

The bottom feeders were .22 LR, .45 GAP, and .41 mag, . . . 1 each.

88 entries held 6 shots or less, . . . 110 entries held 7, 8, or 9, . . . 106 held 10 or more, . . . and 74 held 13 or more. Bottom feeders here in capacity were two derringers, . . . I assume 2 shots each.

The 1911 platform was the all over winner in style (but did anyone doubt that would be the case ) with 49 total entries, . . . Glock was a close second with 42 entries (most popular were the 19/13 entries and 26/7 entries). The next real entry of numbers was the XD family of handguns with 17 entries. Bottom feeders here were the two derringers and one lonely .22LR semi auto (which I found very surprizing, personally).

This poll began mimicking the first one I worked out a few years ago, with the 1911 on top, . . . Glocks second, . . . but in the other one, . . . the Beretta 92 jumped ahead of everyone else. There were only two Beretta 92's this time.

The Ruger SP101 held it's own as the singularly most popular revolver.

As the Captain said, . . . thanks for all your entries, . . . I do appreciate it. Hope you all enjoy seeing where your numbers fell, . . . or will fall next time you visit a gun shop.

May God bless,
Dwight

Dwight, thanks for the effort on this. This tells me that most respondents are packing much more heat than I do. I'm with the minority who still thinks that a 5 shot J-frame or 6 shot D-frame revolver is the better carry choice for self defense.

Hmmm...this gives me some real data for all those times I'm told, "I don't know why on earth you'd want to carry a 1911!" I generally tell them how popular they are, but most refuse to believe it over all that "plastic fantastic and wondernines."

Thanks, Dwight.
