Just moved here (now in Gang Mills will be in Woodhull in about 5 weeks).

Welcome to New York - firemedic. If your a hunter, you've landed in one of the best locations for whitetail deer, blackbear, and/or turkey in the northeast. Grew up in Wayland (northern Steuben) myself. Fishin's great too!
As for RKBA, glad to have a new face in the fight. Check out SCOPE for an effective grassroots org. FYI - the governor is in BIG trouble with conservatives upstate for introducing his "Five-point plan", and he and Joe Bruno (State Senate Leader) were about the only power brokers that proponents of RKBA had on our side. Now Pataki's motivated by pure avarice and since he twisted Bruno's arm to move it through the senate, he's done serious damage to his base. Andy Cuomo may clean his clock in the next gov. election unless he can reclaim some very upset people.
If only NY state hunter's knew that Pataki's original bill classified semi shotguns as "assault weapons". That whole misguided/gun-banning scheme to get the VP nomination would have backfired.
With turncoat Pataki, Sheldon Silver (assembly speaker-gun nazi), Federal senator's Scummer and Klinton, and the most leftist congresspeople for any state in the union, there's plenty of work to be done in New York. The only good thing is ... with all these marxists in the public light, the issue of upstate secession may move to the front burner again.
It's easy to get pessimistic with the condition of NY's government, then you look at the beauty and sporting opportunities of upstate and it get's awfully easy to ignore the polititutes (political prostitutes). Especially since they generally ignore the region til election time, prefering to pander to the urbanites downstate til they need votes.
