Random Thoughts
If you had more than one Taurus handgun, would you refer to them as Tauruses or Tauri?
Sorry, it's 2:00 am and I need sleep.

Well, the plural of octopus can be both octopuses and octopi. Anyone care to call Taurus customer service?

I think it's a 2nd declension word. So Tauri seems right. If the singular were Taura, then you'd have to say Taurae. But who cares!

Tauri is correct. In Latin, Taurus (ending in "us") is male singular. the male plural is "i", hence Tauri.

The Latineers above are correct. However, I believe that when a Latin word becomes the proper name of a company, it no longer maintains its Latin properties, it is simply a name. So the proper English plural would be Tauruses. Using Tauri is fine since it is somewhat humorous in an erudite sort of way.

If you cut the barrel off of a Raging Bull, would it then be a steer?

Actually, no. The "pus" in "octopus" comes from the Greek for "foot". (Thus octo-pus, "eight-footed") Canonical usage is "Octopus" or "Octopuses" when referring to multiple members of the octopus family, and "Octopoda" when referring to multiple species of octopus. </nitpick> -BP

That depends on heiffer you want to go with it. When polled on the subject, most bulls would jersey soon keep all the equipment their mama gave 'em. Of cows it's rarely left up to them anyway. |
