New Range Officer
 I picked up a new SA Range Officer yesterday at my LGS. $699, which seemed a decent price. Hopefully will get it to the range this week. |

On paper, that looks like a great choice for an all forged 1911 with the features it has.
If my old clunk didn't work as good as it does, that would be the one. Yes, let us know how good it actually is, please.

I've mentioned several times the Springfield RO is my favorite, currently produced 1911 style gun for range use.
Hope yours turns out to be a real shooter, looking forward to a range report. Remember too, that Springfield has a pretty good reputation for customer support if you find any problems. |

Best price I have seen tagged locally is $899, but the guy made me a deal and dropped it to $800 + tax. What a guy. It seems all guns are higher in my area than other parts of the nation. Bummer for me. I am considering trading for a RO maybe in the not too distant future because of all the positive comments I see on them.

Thanks for all the replies. Hoping me and the bride, she has a Kimber Eclipse Pro Target 1911 among others, will get to the range this Sunday and get a chance to give the new Springer a workout.
When I bought this one, my LGS also had the same gun in 9mm for $899.Two hundred bucks differenceon the plus side. |

My RO is my favorite 1911. and best shooter too. I swapped out the sights and made her my carry gun. Good Luck and enjoy shooting her.

For what you get that seems like a really nice deal.
Let us know how the wife likes the Eclipse. I have the same or similar model pistol, I think:

I got to run 100 rounds of American Eagle 230gr ball ammo through the new RO this morning. This gun is a shooter. I've had a bunch of 1911's and this one is the best shooter so far. Trigger is nice, but could be a little better. If you do your part, the gun produces easy one hole groups at 10-12 yards shooting off hand. At 25 yards offhand, I was getting 3 inch groups well centered without touching the sight adjustment. I had one failure to feed out of a Wilson mag. The round in question had a small bur on the case mouth, but I'm not sure if it happened trying to chamber or if it came out of the box that way. So far, the RO is a definite keeper.
And for Rogervzv, my wife has the commander length Eclipse Pro Target and loves it. She shoots it very well too. They are excellent pistols. |
