Screwdriver recommendation
I am in the market for a screwdriver set and need recommendations. I have read good and bad and would like real world recommendations. Thanks

Brownells. You can buy whatever handles or bits you need or a complete set. They stand behind them. They are high quality. They're not inexpensive. But if you are on a budget the Chapman sets are a good way to start. No matter how many bits you have you'll always run into a screw that you don't have exactly the right size bit. So you need to learn how to file or grind a larger bit to the exact thickness and width you need. I buy a lot of 1/4" bits from the hardware store and custom grind them for specific guns. Try to buy Made in USA bits. An awful lot of the imported ones are made from crap steel. It's almost like having another hobby.

Forester makes a nice set in a plastic roll-up. These have longer shanks which sometimes are needed in tight places. Nice hollow grind & good steel.

I like the Forsters, too, but mine are all hollow ground flat blades. If you want Torx and other bit shapes, you'll probably also want one of the changeable bit driver handles.
There was a whole thread on this topic in the last couple of months or so. I suggest using the board search function in the white lettering inside the blue bar near the top of the page.

I have the Wheeler set (72 pcs?) with removable bits and different length handles. Seems very good quality. The bits are hard and very sharp. It includes a huge range of thicknesses, widths, slotted, phillips, torx, and specialty ones for various firearm brands/models' unique fasteners.
The main thing you want are gunsmith screwdrivers that are concave profile rather then the general purpose chisel profile drivers. This gives the tip a straight wall on both sides and fills the rectangular slot of the screw head, reducing the chance of the bit slipping out. I think Brownell's sells their own brand of removable it drivers. Everything I have bought with the Brownell brand has been top quality so I expect their screwdrivers would be good too. So far my Wheeler set has matched every need and performed well.
