The Arizona Game and Fish Department is responsible for managing Arizona’s fish and wildlife resource as an enduring public trust. In addition, the Department is charged with promoting safe and responsible use of watercraft and off-highway vehicles. Funding is provided from the sale of licenses and permits; watercraft registration fees; federal excise taxes on firearms, fishing equipment, boats, and other sporting goods; State lottery revenues; donations on State income tax forms; and various contracts and grants. Department policy is set by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission, whose five members are appointed by the Governor.
Personally, I say if a professional guide service can't get its act together to submit hunt applications during the same deadlines that I have, screw 'em. Give refunds and make reparations to your customers... but there should be no corporate welfare in hunting lotteries.

Elk and Antelope tags are already hard enough to get in AZ. Hopefully this will make it easier for us local residents who just head out with our buddies, to actually get drawn.

Good on you, AZG&FD!

A few years back we had a similar deal here in Iowa with turkey tags the state started limiting the # of in state tags in certain areas( in prime Turkey habitat in the river valleys) in respose to complaints from Chicago hunters that they didn't get a fair shake in the draw for turkey permits. It took a lot of phone calls and political threat to get the DNR to change their minds. We won that but it cost us a chance at a dove season ELMOUSMC

I'm so glad they turned them down! I wrote to every member of the council voicing my opposition to making any extension for Cabelas. No way they'd do that for any of us, I'm happy to hear they stood their ground in the face of a big corporation.

Good Job AZGFD!
