Safety selector question

I'm brand new to ar's. Got a windham weaponry cdi rifle. but I'm left handed. Can I simply buy a left handed selector and install? Or must it be an ambidextrous lever? Or must it be a left handed lower? Any education you can provide in this matter will help thanks!

There are several options. I'd suggest installing an "ambi" safety with full sized lever on both sides. My Daughter's a lefty and her AR has this type. Seems to work fine for either side.

I’m a lefty.Have two right hand ARs put ambi levers on them.Didn’t like them.Put the left hand Stags on like em better. If your the main user of the gun I’d put a Stag lefty on it.

From another lefty, agreed, Stag lefty selector is best. The ambi's I've used always irritate the index finger on my left hand during grip so I finally have replaced them all.

I think there are push-button safeties available too that some lefties have found to be comfortable and a very good option.

I just installed an Elftmann push button ambi safety on my Windham AR-15. Works as advertised, easy to install.
