Scope recommendations for Ruger American Predator in 6.5CM

Just curious to know what some of you are using. I want to punch paper and hunt hogs.

Thanks

Any 3 to 9 X 40, or 2.5 to 8 x 40 hunting scope will do nicely. Same as any other hunting rifle.

Sorry, but we do need more info.
Punch paper how far?
Average distance for hogs?
Are all shots within 100 yards? 300? 500?
Do you want/need a hold over scope?
What is your budget?

Depends on what you are using and how much $$ you want to put into. It. The range you will be shooting out to 100 yds, 200 yds, 300 or greater yards? I also vote for a 4-16/44 you can get a Vortex Viper or Crossfire II depending on your budget.

Thanks for the recommendations.
To answer some of your questions, hunting range will be 200-300yds max, and target shooting max of 500yds I would imagine. I’m not a budget per se.

I think there's a wide gap between what's good for hog hunting and what's good for punching paper. From what you said so far though, I would be inclined towards a scope with a 2.5-3x bottom magnification.

If you can spend $1500 you could get something like a Leupold VX5HD 3-15x which would close the gap and do pretty well for both applications.

If you are spending say $200-$300 something like a Nikon Prostaff 7 3-12x42 or a Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12x42 would probably work well.

I've got a Vortex Diamondback 3-12x42 on a Ranch 300 Blackout and it is a sweet scope indeed with Burris Z Rings. That 12X will give a little more reach and still compact yet effective

Last time I was shopping, I could still find Leupold 4-12x40 vxII for under $300, all in. Nice scope and the weight is less than most 3-9x40.

If you will not be hoofing it around a lot and want a scope that has a wide array of future expansion look into the Athlon line. I was pleasantly surprised with their price vs performance and the glass is surprising. If you have a lot of foot work in your future stick to the Leupold or Nikkons.

My usual preference is for Vortex. The 4-12X42 Crossfire II does well for what you mention.

But lately i've been more into Sightron. Their 4-12X40 SIH would suit your purposes also.
Both about the same money. To me the Sightron has better glass though.
