Ruger revolver

I have the opportunity to buy a Ruger black powder revolver for $190.

I inspected it and i noticed that when it is at fully cock, the cylinder will spin clockwise if you turn it by hand. Is this normal or does it have an issue? Should it lock up?

Its in good condition with probably 95% bluing.

is this a good price? I don't remember the caliber.

At full cock, the cylinder stop should have popped up and arrested any further rotation of the cylinder. If it's a Ruger Old Army, I'd buy it, send it to the factory for fixing. It can't cost that much to repair and at $190, it's still a bargain.

That is not normal. Since Rugers rarely break, I suspect someone had the gun apart and lost a piece, like the cylinder latch (cylinder stop) or its spring.

I second Gary's post. If you don't feel up to fixing it yourself(www.gunpartscorp.com for parts), Ruger should do so at a very reasonable cost.

It could be something as simple as the cylinder latch spring being either broken or disconnected. It's a cheap fix. Buy the gun or kick yourself in the arse for passing up a bargain.

Buy the gun! $190 is a steal. It may only need a good cleaning or it may need to go back to Ruger. Either way it's still a steal of a price.

sounds like it needs a new spring, and/or bolt, or maybe they just came loose inside, but usually those are somewhat cheap parts to buy replacements for

buy it, or tell me where it is, and I'll buy it myself
