I need some work done on a 1911 and am wondering if there is any reputable gunsmiths near Salt Lake that are actaully VERY GOOD. I have had bad luck with the Utah smiths I have had work on my guns...
A couple coming back dirtier that when I checked it in. One was quite filthy - some tool marks etc...

Anyone got a good recomendation?
Some times I wish I was still in VA!

I think that you are out of luck, George. When i lived there, all I could find were butchers.

C.T. Brian used to be in Vernal, IIRC, but he is now in Colorado. Colorado Springs, I think. Not local, but first rate work.

Dave Lauk (of D&L Sports, I'm not sure of the spelling) is in Wyoming.

Try http://www.slpsa.org/ for the Salt Lake Practical Shooters. They have a guy named Mark or Mike Waki that should be able to set you up.
