Best gun for the money

I have asked a few times now, but never really got a clear answer.

This is what i am looking at and what i can spend:

$450 total (less would be better

). 9mm with at least a 4" barrel. Steel. Good lighter trigger. 12+ mag. Doesnt weight 4 lbs.

With all of that, can anyone come up with a handgun for me?

You'll probably never get a clear answer–the "best gun for the money" is subjective. Everyone has their opinion of what is the best for a given price.

I'd recommend looking at used guns from any of the big manufacturers.

I don't know how much it hold but a nice surplus Sig P225/P6 may fit the bill

good... another "best" thread.

I think the Ruger P-95 provides a lot of quality gun for the money. If it has to be all steel, then you might have a LOT fewer choices seeing at a lot of all metal guns aren't all steel. There are MANY guns with alloy frames that are excellent. I hope that you don't exclude them. Otherwise, S&W5906 and 6906, Beretta 92, and maybe some of the all metal Taurus's. I've heard good things about the medium frame and large frame metal taurus's.

That'll do is right. It's a completely subjective thing and everyone does have their own opinion. That being said, I agree with Ben. The Ruger P-95.

Ruger SR9.... On sale at Budsgunshop.com for $395 right now, brand new...

Otherwise the Sig Sauer SP2022 is (from what I hear) a very reliable gun and can be had brand new, with night sights, 3 15 round mags, two different grips, and a lock for $445 off buds again. I myself just bought one off there last night, and from all the research I've done, it should be a very good pistol (sig quality without the sig price).

Honestly? In your price range, looking at new guns... Along with Ruger, I would also be reading up on EAA, CZ, and FN. Bud's carries all of these brands and should have a 9mm in each that will meet your price requirement. When you omit plastic guns your selection does drop off some though.

You'll have two great guns in one.

Can't miss with the Bersa Thunder 9UC. Had mine 1.5 yrs. Tack driver and has never missed a single shot no FTF,FTE whatever. 13+1 and comes with 2mags. Price point in the mid 300.00. Save enough money for more ammo

Best gun for the money? Lorcin .380. You could probably purchase one for about $60 - $80 used that works. Just buy a couple spare extractors and polish the feed ramp, and you will have a gun that will fire fairly reliably for a long time. Heck, the extractors are so simple on that gun, you could probably make them yourself with a bench grinder and a dremmel.

You will have to spend more than 3x what you would spend on the Lorcin .380 to get a gun that does the same thing.

If there is a better gun in the $60 - $80 price range, I'd like to know about it.

Now, if you are looking for the best gun value in a particular price range, that has all the beauty, bells and whistles you like, that's a different story. Are we talking <$100? 100 - 200? 300 - 500? 500 - 1000? 1000 - 2000? or Over $2000?

Your money goes further if you are confident enough to buy a used handgun.

In your shoes, I would be looking for a 3rd Generation S&W. Not made anymore (except for custom shop) so you would have to buy used. A helluva lot of gun for the money.
