factory chambered calibers and reloading

I would post this in the gun section but I think the best answers are here.

If a person is a dedicated reloader what factory chambered caliber do you think has the most accuracy potential from 100 to 300yds? This is using the best. premium brass and match grade bullets
I think I would lean toward 6mm or 308. what do you think?

I think you'll get lots of different opinions. If everyone agreed, there would only be a few cartridges!

A lot of people like .308. And a lot of people like the 6.5's (6.5X55, 260 Remington, (which is .308 necked to 6.5) and 6.5/.284Win.

I don't know any who like the 6's, though.

.223 will do just fine over those ranges if you use commercial brass, good bullets, and good technique. Milsurp and econoball need not apply.

Are there factory chambered rifles in 6mm BR or 6 PPC? Look for them, that is what the serious accuracy shooters use in custom guns.

Dave R I was asking what you and everyone as a Individual likes.
I don't think they are my caliber of choice but I do like the 6mm rem and .243 I have a .243 now that shoots very accurate with 88grn bergers and 3031. Agreed you would never get a unanimous answer.

If I was looking for a factory rifle in 6mmBR or 6mmPPC, I would look for either a Remington 40X, a CZ, or a Sako. There are LOTS of custom and semi-custom rifles in either caliber.

Dgc940--I believe that the 6mmPPC owns more benchrest records than any other cartridge--that's extreme accuracy. But to obtain it, you have to have a tight-chambered rifle, probably useless for anything except benchrest shooting, and do all the fussy extra steps and use all the extra equipment in reloading that the benchresters go through. (Case neck turning, cartridge run-out checking, and bullet meplat uniforming come to mind.) The reward is group sizes measured in hundredths of an inch at 100 yds--Are you willing to do all the necessary and expensive stuff to achieve that?

True Joe but I was thinking more towards the more common calibers like 223,22=250,243.6mm rem and such. I think for accuracy as I stated above I think I favor the .308win
