Harley: Is it possible to identify the year my Colt "Official Police" .38 was manufactured? The serial number is: 576xxx

Sorry but I don't seem to have serial numbers on the OP. I'll dig deeper in my books if Jim , Steven or someone doesn't chime in.

My sources indicate the gun was made in 1932. The serial is high because the same series carried over from the New Army and Navy, to the Army Special, then to the Official Police.
