Garand clip not ejecting when empty.
Took my Garand out to the range for the first time today. Everything ran smoothly, except the en-bloc doesn't eject. Rounds feed fine, no failures to extract or anything, its just after the 8th rnd, no 'ping' of the clip. It just sits down at the bottom of the receiver when empty. Turn the rifle over, bolt open, it falls right out (when empty). A full clip will stay in the rifle until the clip latch is pressed, which will eject the full clip.
What do I need to look at or do to correct this, or is this even a problem? Thanks! |

Check the latch spring to see if it is broken or screwed up. Sounds like it isn't strong enough to spit the clip out.

When you pull your trigger group out, there is a little spring steel thingy that's flattened and bent at 90 degrees. At least there's supposed to be. It sounds like it might be missing or broken. That's the clip ejector spring IIRC.

well, after I RTFM'd, and found the parts legend, it looks like I am missing part # 24, the clip ejector. Looks like a bent paperclip. Where the heck does it go?

Starfurryzeta, Your gun part has entered THE TRANS-DIMENSIONAL NEXUS BLACK-HOLE OF LOST GUN PARTS AND SMALL THINGIES No one knows where or when the portal will open, no one knows where it leads to...it just swallows small gun parts, screws, pins and other little items whose loss makes life just a little miserable.

That bent paperclip thingy goes over a little round dot thingy on the side of the trigger housing group.
How does your safety operate with that spring missing?
