How many tables are at the Harrisburg show? I met up with Dead at the Fort Washington Show last week. I have really been let down by some of these shows. A few months ago I went to a show and ABSOLUTELY NOBODY had any surplus .308 ammo. It was unbelievable. I also couldn't find a single powder drop funnel either. I had to order a freakin powder funnel from www.wideners.com. And last week 3 of the ammo tables couldn't accept credit cards. I picked out $355 of ammo and handed them a credit card and their faces dropped. What planet am I on?????????????????

SodaPop,
Were you the one I heard about at the ammo table all the way in the back by the wall???? I remember them saying they were trying to get the card line to connect but no good. Bet they were just as pissed as you were since you were dropping 355 bucks, that they lost out on. That one table were you were looking at the ammo, all the way in the back was pretty decent, best prices there from what I saw.... Too bad they didnt have any 5.45x39, as I wanted to get a ton of that stuff. had lot of stuff there that isnt even listed on their site. Not to mention 7.62x39 Wolf ammo for 70 a case. they were http://www.ammunitionstore.com |

When you walk into the Main door and walk straight back to the very back wall THAT GUY COULDN"T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. The guy about 6 tables down to the left WASN"T SET UP FOR CREDIT CARDS. The Ammo Table all the way over to the Right near the Snack Bar WAS ONLY CASH AND CARRY WE DON"T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. They even had Hirtenberger .223. I would have spent $400 at that table if they took cards. I'm only going to buy .223 and .308 in Battle packs from now on Not after I had that blow up a couple weeks ago. The guy I think, was Ammoman, to the left and in the middle, only had half of an open case of British Radway Green. He took credit cards but I didn't come to buy 500rds.

Only .308 normally but I wanted to try some Hirtenerber .223. Reloading 1000's of rounds on a single stage stinks. I just got done reloading 800rds of .223 and 700rds of 45acp. It took me about 3 months to do it

Gun show rule #1....
ALWAYS have cash!!! Powerful bargining tool!! Use line......"what is your best CASH price now?" Flash bills if necessary. I take a bit out of each pay and put aside when I know a gun show is comming up. Have gotten some good deals this way! Don't know how many tables though. Farm show is usually good for alot of them. Going sat anybody want to meet up? I know that it is early but........DAROGUE1

Allentown had a ton of surplus 308.
South African mostly. I picked up some so I can sight in the Aimpoint I picked up. Lots of militaria there if you want to dress up and strut around to "The March Of The Armored Cars"! Yes that is a real German song.

I'm new to the Philly - Bucks county area. Which show is the best in regards to selection, tables, etc. I'm willing to travel up to 200 miles.
Thanks. |

The Fort Washington and Harrisburgh shows have the biggest draw. Usually the MAAC GUNSHOWS. Come out to our TFL shoot in Sept Matrix!!!

I think I got too much ammo at the last show, well I got some after the show also.
About how far is the Harrisburg show from where Ft. Washington is??? I might check it out if it isnt that far from there. Or maybe I could meet up with someone out there, and catch a ride there if it is FAR? Hopefully they will have LOTS of 5.45x39 there. The last show where I got some, I got the LAST case at the show, and that was 4 seconds before someone else came up looking for some |

Matrix
Wait until the fall for the BIG Harrisburg show. There's over 1200 tables in two big rooms. You can find just about anything at that show. Until then, you can go to the Ft. Washington show and find lots of good stuff. I believe it has around 800 tables. Lastly, you have to attend the Sportsmen Show out at Harrisbrug. It's definitely worth at least 1 visit or 2 or 30 I'm pretty luck that I live in between Harrisburg and Philly. Either show only takes me 45 minutes to 1 hour to drive to.

Dead its about an hour or so west of the Fort Washington Show. Has anyone been to any shows in VA or Maryland? How do they compare to PA shows?

Soda,
I'm originally from the Harrisburg area, and now live in Northern Virginia. The shows in Pennsylvania tend to be larger, have a wider variety of rifles and shotguns, and tend to have better "sundries" dealers. A number of the shows down here are more junk than gun shows anymore, with jerkey, toys, tools, etc. There are a couple of shows a year at the Showplace in Richmond that rival the Farm Show for size and quality, but Richmond's a pain for me to get to.

Does anyone know when the fall show is in York this year?
It's normally in October sometime. I wouldn't mind getting up for it again this year. Son, any idea? I really like the bullets I bought from that guy and want to get some more.

There are shows at a place near York called "The Blast" or something like that. Its a fine show!! I went there last year even though its about 2hrs away. They had a ton of reloading equipment and supplies there. Not a big show but a Quality show.
Check out www.AppalachianPromotions.com for more info. I think there is one coming up soon. |

I should have been more specific.
The show I'm curious about is the one that is held in Memorial Hall at the York Fairgrounds, sometime (2nd/3rd weekend?) in October.

Son, do you have a date for the Sportsman show? I'm interested for the hunting suppliers, archery equipment and outfitters that usually don't attend the regular gun shows.
When I lived in Memphis, I went to the Duck's Unlimited Festival every year, which was AWESOME! If any of you get a chance to go, it's worth the trip. There's a good sportsman show in Richmond, VA in mid August, but I think I'll be moving onto the new house that weekend. |
