Buddy of mine couple weeks back Txtd me and offered his Noveske AR in 6.8 with leopold xvr for 1800 seeing as the SiG M400 I had been interested was now going for the same price I said hell yes. Now I know nothing of 6.8 and to be honest wasn't all that I retested in an AR more of a commie gun guy but I think this rifle may change that seems very nice any way school me gentleman.

You will get two different stories on it. I have one and love it. I took two nice fat does with it this past hunting season with handloaded 110gr Pro Hunters. It is a very good rifle for hunting out to 250-300 yards. Many use it for coyotes and feral hogs. It is a little more expensive to shoot than the .223 (in normal circumstances) but no more expensive than most other hunting calibers. Roughly $1 per round for factory loads. If you really want to get to know the 6.8SPC I would recommend going to http://68forums.com/forums/content.php where you will find some good people and a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Congrats on the new rifle.

I've heard that you can use standard AR mags and that you can't what do you use?

Standard GI mags will only work for 3-4 rounds. 6.8 mags are normally priced in the same range as other 5.6 mags until the craziness. Now the mags, like most others, are hard to find. The 6.8 is a good round, especially if you handload.

Hodaka is right. They look pretty much the same from the outside but most 6.8 mags are made of SS because they have to be a little bit wider inside to accommodate the fatter case while remaining the same size outside to fit the mag well. I personally use AR Stoner Mags from Midway but they are hit and miss right now.

It was tough to get 6.8 ammo and mags before the "crazy" and virtually impossible now even if you can afford it. I decided to pass on the 6.8 until a later date and went with the 30AAC. The last uppers I've ordered were 5.56 simply because of ammo/mag supply.

Thus far ammo isn't a problems bought 200rnds at 22.00 a box which isn't bad since .223 and 5.56 are almost not available around Fort Worth it seems

I have never had a problem getting ammo. Wal Mart even carried it before all the panic ensued. Palmetto State Armory was selling Hornady 110 V Max for $9.99 a box for quite a while so I was buying 100 rounds at a time until I have acquired about 600 factory rounds and I reload so I always have brass around to experiment with.

Ammo is not a problem around here the 2 larger family owned gun shops have it in stock and several differant brands . there are 6-8 differant companies loading it with a big veriaty of bullets . WAL MART IS NOT THE ONLY AMMO STORE !

My point in mentioning Wal Mart was that when you start seeing them stock ammo for a certain caliber you know it has pretty much become main stream. Most of their stores only stock the more common calibers.

Noveske is a quality manufacturer.
The 6.8 SPC is a solid round with very good ballistics for the platform (6.5 Grendel is my choice by a slim margin...)

Not much factory ammo for this caliber, anyway...and unlike ammunition prices, components haven't gone up much (we can't get powder and primers, but what does that matter

). $.50 round for match grade ammo when you handload.

You'll pay for your reloading equipment in short order, if you shoot any appreciable amount.

I had one in a G2 Contender pistol barrel and a 23" carbine barrel. I loved it. It's a good one to handload.

I have a 6.8 made by Bison Armory that is a tack driver.......

Reloading does give options

There are some reported manufacturers that are coming out with cheaper bullets, but you are looking at 90 cents a bullet

I reload for under 35 cents a round

Ok so my not so knowledgable self bought this thing only to do some research and figure out only the lower is a Noveske

Paid 1800 for it with the 2 mags and 2 boxes of ammo.

It's nice. Why do you think only the lower is Noveske? The uppers are seldom marked with a manufacturer. Sometimes the barrel is stamped for instance, Bushmaster usually says B M I and then caliber and twist rate. Not sure about Noveske except that they are very well thought of. My 6.8 is one I built myself with a Bison barrel and PSA upper and lower receivers.

All the noveske uppers I've seen pics. are marked with there logo where I only have a raised square casting mark the barrel and flash suppressor are YHM and yeah I have 200rnds plus the 40 that came with it.

Well, I know it doesn't help much but the square indicates Brass Aluminum Forging company. I am pretty sure they are used by Daniel Defence, Bravo Company, and I have heard that Colt uses them sometimes but can't confirm that.
I just went to Noveske's site and they use Brass Aluminum Forging uppers as well.
I really like the look of that free float handguard. Is that carbon fiber or aluminum?
