I have been drooling over this thing for the last year at my LGS. It started out at $780, then $680 and yesterday they had it marked down to $599..

. It was more than I could take!!!

It likely would've been more than I could stand as well. They are very nice guns, and I especially like them with loads a little above 44Mag/45Colt Ruger only. Something around 454 Casull starting loads.

I also like that they are 5 shot. The cylinder lines up more naturally for loading and unloading, and when you shut the loading gate, very little cylinder rotation is needed to lock the bolt.

Other than loading/unloading or installing/removing, the cylinder should be turned by the action only. This helps keep "beauty rings" off cylinders especially since Rugers have an inherent throw-by problem anyway.

I would really, really like a Ruger SA.
.44Mag, .454 or .480 (don't even know if they chamber them in .480...)

I confess to enjoying big bores.... and I just get the feeling I'd enjoy SA's. Sadly never had the chance shoot one except a 1858 once.

In other words heart-felt congratulations on that beauty.

That looks like one of the more sensible hand-cannons. You can just treat it like a 45 Colt most of the time, and go up from there if the need arises.

Thanks all. I would say that I plan on .45lc's being its main diet but then I would be lying....

....I really like the big boomers. Do to being on the tail end of recovery from a surgery to my strong arm I will limit myself to .45lc's for a few outings anyway and I picked up some lower recoiling 240grain .454 Federal. Once I am back to 95% or so, the diet will become standard .454 loads.

Please come back and report on the recoil and feel of the Bisley grip when you get to shoot some full house loads in the gun.

I am hoping to get to the range this week disseminator. I do have full load .454's on their way and I would bet that a few of those rounds are going through through the gun. I am also curious about the difference the Bisley grips will make over the standard plow handle grips that my Super Blackhawk has. I will let you know how it goes.

For my smaller than average hands and grip, there is a huge difference between the standard and Bisley grips. I find the standard grip OK for 357 and 44 Specials, but don't care for it with higher powered rounds. In fact I prefer the Bisley regardless.

Others don't like the Bisley grip. Enjoy finding out what you like.

I have a fused thumb joint from firing LAWMAN (rifle only) ammo in my 4" M29 .....in 1962....

....BEFORE.... they started labeling the box for what to USE it in.

I was just shooting mine on Saturday. I put a few of Underwood’s super hot 240 gn loads through it (advertised at 1900 fps but I chronoed them at 1750 fps) and then some of my ‘mild’ hand loads (260 gn bullet going 1190 fps). All very fun. Was grouping at three inches at 40 yards with open sights. Great gun.
