What 45-70 ammo to use

I just bought a

Henry H024-4570 Side Gate .45-70Govt
I look up 45-70 brass and found there is two kinds. Straight tube and bottleneck. What to use.

The only .45-70 I know of offhand is the 1873 Government pattern, which is a straight case. Do you have something to show us what you are talking about in a bottleneck?

Is it possible that what you are seeing is a “general picture” for all brass by a manufacturer and that under the picture you can order brass for everything from 5.56 through 30-06 and beyond to include 45-70 which is a straight walled cartridge?

The .45-70 Govt is a straight walled case. There is NO bottleneck.

It is not a perfect straight cylinder like some pistol rounds, there is a slight taper in the case body, but it is a straight walled case, there is no case shoulder, no "bottleneck" of any kind.

Any picture showing a bottlenecked case identified as ".45-70 Govt" is a mistake.
