I tell people all the time - if you pick it up and it feels like a brick, it is probably not going to work very well for you. Not an expert at anything but getting in trouble, but that has seemed to work for me. adambomb, buy what fits you and works well for you.
cslinger, the PCR has some very nice sights. Have you looked at the sights on the P-10C or P-07?

I was able to look at the P01 yesterday and again just thought Beretta felt better. At this point I am basically trying to figure out if I want a dedicated home defense pistol and a double stack carry...or just one that fulfills both roles. If I were to buy a home defense pistol, it would be the beretta 92 and for double stack carry I am looking at MP20 compact and a few other similar to that. If I were to get one to fulfill both roles I am looking at the HK P30s or Sig p320 Compact. I have mostly eliminated most other guns at this point. I've been to about 7 shops and a gun show and gotten to see them all.

I finally made some decisions.

I have bought the Beretta 92FS as a dedicated home defense gun.

Over the next few weeks/months I am going to research double stacks for carry and am really interested in the new MP20 15 rounder that SW just announced. It seems the exact same size as the G19.

The FNS with a manual safety would be a great choice. You can conceal it easily and it makes for the perfect home defense pistol.

I would attach a picture of mine but the forum keeps saying the file size is too big (noob here).

Update:

My new 92 arrived 2 days ago. I cleaned it and spent a day learning to use the weapon as I was new to DA/SA; Ive always had either striker fired pistols or revolvers. Took it to the range today and put down 200 rounds without problems. Gun felt great considering I usually fire pocket sized guns. Very accurate at 25ft (farthest I tried). I plan to get some factory 17 rd mags but I finally have my home defense pistol!

Congrats Adam, the 92 is such an iconic pistol I'm sure you will be very happy. For some odd reason I don't shoot them as well as a couple in the same class but they are great pistols.

Good choice. She won't do you wrong. I love my two Berettas. The double action pull takes some getting used to. Get yourself a "d" spring and that will lighten it a little.

Good gun choice. I always like them when I shot them. However, that's a terrible holster! Ditch it, don't wear it! Put it in the box of crappy holsters we all have!!

A good one isn't that much money.

Nice gun. Just a thought, you might want a single stack for carry. Thickness is the biggest issue for concealability.

To me grip length is the biggest issue for concealability.

Same. This gun is strictly for home defense. I do not plan on carrying it. My EDC is a MP bodyguard 380 and I am going to get a double stack in the spring, probably an MP9 compact...the new one.

As far as that holster goes, I just needed something to store the gun in when its in my nightstand and had a mag holder...it would be terrible for carry. I think it was only like $15 on amazon.

Might as well get the 33-rd mag for it
If you are going to defend the home,
be aware that more than one may enter...
it seems typical for an average of 4 thugs to
pull a B&E these days.

Guess I am too old

I have carried a 38 Special snubby revolver for over thirty years, either in a shoulder holsters always under a jacket, or a belt holster with suspenders. Yes, it is steel and it has never failed me. So please, all you plastic gun experts tell me what I am doing wrong.

IF i could know that my next shooting would be at a distance of 3 feet against a single attacker and he would stop his attack after 3 shots....a 5 shot snubby would be fine.

Unfortunately, i cannot know this in advance, so i must be prepared for more distance, more adversaries and failures of my hits to stop the attack.

So, a larger capacity pistol, with an easier to use trigger and better sights helps me deal with these eventualities.

Are you confident with it?
Are you trained with it?
Do you carry it / have quick access to it?
Is it reliable?

If you answered yes to these then not a God darned thing.

We seem to be in a golden age for semi auto pistols. High demand from the last couple of decades has funded several generations of pistols from many manufacturers. There's a lot of good solid choices. Even taurus makes a good compact now! (pt11 g2 pro).

If the holster isn't for carry, then it isn't the horror. If Adam trains with how the gun works, it's a fine gun.

I prefer a Glock with no manual safeties but that's me and I've shot them since the earlier 90's.
